ALBANY — Assaults reported to the Albany Police Department on Friday included one incident involving a firearm and another involving a knife.

Officers responded to 212 W. Society Ave. at 11:49 p.m. regarding a suspicious person when an APD patrol car was flagged down on the 300 block of Society Avenue by a man who said he had been chased by another man with a pistol, an available report on the incident said.

The victim told police that he and his neighbor were approached while they were walking home. He said the man pointed the pistol at both of them asking for “Bo-Bo” before he ran away. As the victim was running, he said one shot rang out.

The neighbor was reached by police, who said the suspect approached the two men as they were making it back home. He said the other victim ran off and that he identified himself and pleaded with the suspect not to shoot him. The suspect said he should shoot both of them, the report said of the neighbor’s account.

The neighbor reported that the suspect, who had a silver handgun, walked off and that he did not hear any shots go off. The victim who initially reported the incident said the man who approached them used to date his girlfriend, who was able to identify the suspect at Anthony Vicks.

Vicks, 40, is described in the report as a black male who is 5-foot-5 and weighs 131 pounds with short hair, medium build and facial hair. He has tattoos on both arms and his chest and has a residence on West Residence Avenue, the report said.

The report on the incident said the case has been forwarded to investigators.

Police also responded to 1336 Mercantile Drive at 3:48 p.m. regarding a domestic dispute between a man and a woman. The man was outside the residence when the woman, identified as Lauren Carter, 23, came from the kitchen inside the residence with a butcher’s knife and “went at” the man with the knife, a narrative based on Carter’s account said.

The man took the knife from Carter before she went back into the residence. The man and his sister followed Carter back in, and according to Carter’s account of the incident, there was a physical altercation involving the three individuals during which the sister attacked Carter.

The man told officers he was fixing his mother’s vehicle when Carter came out cursing with the knife in hand in an attempt to stab him. He then told officers Carter went inside while his sister went in to get her things, and that Carter attacked his sister. The man broke the two women apart, and his sister and mother left.

A neighbor reported that Carter attempted to stab the man, and the man responded by taking the knife before Carter continued to argue with him and started to argue with his sister. The man’s sister and mother returned to the scene, and the sister confirmed her brother’s story.

The sister had scratches on her face. Carter was handcuffed and taken to the Dougherty County Jail.

Albany police also responded to reports of a shooting on Marie Road on Sunday. An update on the investigation was not available Monday.
