ALBANY — Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a suspect in a July 17 shooting death.
Albany Police Department officials say they are looking for Edwin Reeves Jr., no age given, of Albany. Police say warrants for murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime have been issued against Reeves in the July 17 fatal shooting of Malik Hassan McAllister, 43.
McAllister was shot early that morning in the 1900 block of West Gordon Avenue.
According to an APD release on the homicide, the call was reported at 1:14 a.m. July 17. Witnesses told police they heard a gunshot, then soon after saw the shooting victim staggering near the roadway, where he collapsed. McAllister, who had a gunshot wound to his abdomen, was taken to the hospital, where he later died, police said.
Authorities say Reeves should be considered armed and dangerous.
Reeves is described as 5 foot 7 and weighing 160 pounds. His last known address is 1211 Gillespie Ave.
Police say those with information on Reeves’ whereabouts should contact Albany Area Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS, or the APD at (229) 431-3288 or (229) 431-2132. Tips may be left anonymously on the Crime Stoppers line and the caller can be in line for a cash reward.
