ALBANY — The Albany Police Department has arrested McKeal Lamar Jr., 17, on an armed robbery charge in connection to the Thursday night robbery of the Family Dollar store at 110 Cordele Road.

According to reports, the holdup occurred at 9:56 p.m. Thursday.

“The suspect fled the store after taking an unknown amount of money from the business at gunpoint,” APD Phyllis Banks said in an email Friday. “Officers were in the area when the call was dispatched and were able to locate the suspect shortly afterwards. The suspect was taken into custody and the case has been forwarded to investigators.”

According to Banks, Lamar was charged with armed robbery.
