Albany man fatally shot in Atlanta Saturday

ATLANTA – The Clayton County Police Department is still searching for a suspect in connection to a shooting in which an Albany man was killed. The fatal shooting occurred in an apartment complex Saturday afternoon.

According to reports, the shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. in the Riverdale Road and Garden Walk Boulevard area. Police on patrol heard gunshots and traced them to Highland Woods Apartments at 5751 Riverdale Road.

Officers arrived on the scene and found a man lying on the pavement with a gunshot wound. Residents flagged down the officers and reported that the shooter was running away.

The slaying victim, identified as Fanoris Jermaine Jackson Jr., 20, of Albany, was rushed to a hospital by Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services. He was later pronounced dead.

Reports indicate that officers chased the suspected gunman but were unable to catch him. He is described as a dark-skinned black male wearing all black who is between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11 and is estimated to weigh 150-160 pounds.
