ALBANY — Detectives with the Albany Police Department say a pawn shop transaction helped them catch a burglar.

According to reports, Ronald Lamar Mingo, 41, was arrested Thursday after a burglary investigation uncovered “multiple stolen items connected to several burglary cases.”

“During a burglary investigation, detectives learned that Mingo had pawned multiple stolen items,” APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said. “These items were connected to several burglaries. As the investigation progressed, detectives learned he might be linked to more break-ins.”

Reports indicate that a pawn shop transaction linked to Mingo on Aug. 15 occurred on the same day as a burglary that occurred at 1203 Forest Glen Drive.

“The items pawned were identified Thursday morning by the victim,” Banks said. “Mingo was located Thursday while driving a car in the 700 block of West Whitney Avenue. Shortly after being spotted, detectives apprehended Mingo in the Brooks Plaza without incident.”

According to officials, Mingo has been charged with three counts of burglary in the first degree.
