DCSS 2018 Teacher of the Year finalists named
Top teacher will be announced at a banquet next month

ALBANY — The list of eight finalists vying to become the 2018 districtwide Teacher of the Year for the Dougherty County School System has been released by the system.
The Teacher of the Year will be named April 19 at a 6 p.m. banquet at the Merry Acres Event Center
Each year, schools within the district name their schoolwide teacher of the year. A panel of community members then visits each teacher and generates a score using a rubric to determine the districtwide teacher of the year.
The district’s teacher of the year winner will competes at the state level.
The eight 2018 finalists are:
— William Wright III, Albany Middle School
— Seqaous Walker, Robert Cross Middle Magnet School
— Jillian Lockette, Alice Coachman Elementary School
— Jane Maples, Lake Park Elementary School
— Kanese Rachel, Lincoln Elementary Magnet School
— Timothy Hardwick, Radium Springs Elementary School
— Dorcas Robinson, Turner Elementary School
— Carol Boges, West Town Elementary
The Herald will publish a biography on each finalist, two per day, beginning April 15 and running through April 18.
