ALBANY — Dougherty County Emergency Management Agency officials announced Thursday that the county and city of Albany would not be participating in a statewide tornado drill planned for today.

In light of recent storms that have greatly impacted the city and county, the Dougherty EMA officials announced the agency will postpone its participation in the tornado drill.

While being mindful of recent events, DCEMA said it is committed to the safety and security of the citizens of Albany and Dougherty County. A full-scale tornado drill, in conjunction with Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany, will be conducted at noon on March 1, officials with the county said.

Officials said more information will follow as the date approaches.
