ALBANY — The cause of a fatal fire on Howard Drive early Thursday remained under investigation Thursday evening.

Albany Fire Department Arson Investigator Sam Harris said a call came in at 4:47 a.m. regarding a fire at 2216 Howard Drive. Harris said Thursday afternoon that investigators do not believe arson was a factor, but that a specific cause had yet to be pinned down.

Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler said the house was vacant and the victim was a white male of unknown age. Fowler added that he man appeared to be homeless and was not supposed to be in the house.

Investigators were still in the process Thursday of identifying the man found on the property.
