ALBANY — Two brothers, one from Albany and the other living in Forsyth, were witness to a shooting in which the out-of-town brother was injured, a report from the Albany Police Department said.
A police report narrative written by J.T. Milledge said officers responded to the 200 block of West Society Avenue to an aggravated assault with a firearm. Upon arrival, contact was made with Justin Jackson, who had been shot in his left leg through his knee cap.
“Justin (Jackson) said he was standing outside when he heard shooting, and he started running when he noticed he was shot in his leg,” the police report narrative said. “Justin said he fell down, and tried to crawl under a house.
“(Justin’s) brother Jeremy Jackson was also standing outside when this incident occurred.”
The report said Jeremy Jackson was not in injured in the incident, and both brothers said they did not see the suspects. Jeremy Jackson said he did not see who was shooting at him and did not see a vehicle but heard doors slam after the shooting ended.
“Both Jeremy and Justin said they had no clue who was shooting at them,” the narrative said.
The injured brother said he was at a family member’s house on the 700 block of North Jackson Street to eat, but that he did not know the exact location. Jeremy Jackson, who spent some time at the same gathering, also said he did not know the address.
Police reports said Justin Jackson was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment. A spokeswoman at the hospital said there was no patient at Phoebe by that name. The police report said there were no other witnesses to the incident.
The report said shell casings was packaged sealed and logged as evidence along with photos. The case was forwarded to APD’s Investigations Division.
