Justices to congratulate Atlanta Falcons today for reaching Super Bowl

ATLANTA — While the Super Bowl championship will be decided Feb. 5 when the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots take the field, the Falcons appear to be going into it winners in the judgment of the Georgia Supreme Court.
For the first time in its history, the state high court will go into special session at 1:30 p.m. today and put a new twist on the phrase “All rise” that accompanies the entry of the nine justices into the courtroom. The slogan of the Falcons squad has been “Rise up.”
“This is a first for the state’s highest court,” a news release announcing the special session said.
The justices are expected to congratulate the Falcons and wish them the best in their world championship quest.
The unconventional special session will precede an oral arguments session set to start at 2 p.m.
