ALBANY — Albany area youngsters got to celebrate Halloween a little early Friday at the Tricks and Treats event hosted by the Flint RiverQuarium and the Thronateeska Heritage Center in downtown Albany.

Participating kids got to trick or treat through each facility as well as along the paved walkway that connects the two buildings. That pathway was filled with candy booths and games set up by local volunteers.

Tommy Gregors, executive director of the two attractions, said the event, which is now three years old, was shaping up to be the best attended Tricks and Treats event yet.

“It looks like we’ll have the best turnout we’ve had,” said Gregors Friday night. “And last year we had over 700 people here.”

Even more costumed kiddies will be out and about Monday night as Halloween finally arrives and kids will be trick-or-treating through the entire city. The Albany Police Department has issued a notice that Halloween is to be observed from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
