LEESBURG — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a woman wanted in connection to a child death case from last year.
Investigator Shawn McTyeire said officials with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office are requesting the public’s help in locating Leshia Michelle Green, who is wanted for the murder of her 4-year-old foster child in Lee County in September. Green, 50, is 5-foot-5 and weighs approximately 140 pounds.
Chief Deputy Lewis Harris said Green is out of jail on bond for two counts of cruelty to a child in the first degree. The incident occurred at 141 Mayfield Drive in Lee County on Sept. 27.
Initial reports of the incident said the county’s 911 call center was contacted at 4:09 a.m. about an injured child at the residence, with EMTs arriving at the home three minutes later.
The child was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany and was pronounced deceased a short time afterward.
Officials said Green is known to frequent the east Albany area. If anyone knows her whereabouts, they are encouraged to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 759-6012.
