ALBANY — The Albany Police Department said Thursday morning that a missing man with dementia had been confirmed deceased.
Alex “Bud” Crayton, 81, was reported missing Wednesday evening. Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman for APD, said investigators contacted the Leary Police Department — in the city where he lived previously — and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. Both were given the missing person information. Contact was also made with restaurants and stores in the area that Crayton frequented.
The search for Crayton continued Thursday morning at daylight, as low visibility hindered the search Wednesday. Crayton had wandered away from his home on Stone Water Drive.
Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler said Thursday that foul play was not suspected in Crayton’s death.
