CAMILLA — A homicide case defendent pleaded to manslaughter and man was convicted of child molestation and incest in two cases that were resolved in the fall term of Mitchell County Superior Court, South Georgia Judicial Circuit district attorney Joe Mulholland announced Tuesday evening.

The prosecutor said Shaquille Crimley, one of four co-defendants charged with the January 2016 slaying of Anthony Williams, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Heather Lanier to 25 years in prison with 18 to be served in state prison after he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Mulholland said in that case, Crimley and Williams got into an altercation after a basketball game that escalated until Crimley shot Williams in a the pelvis, resulting in a fatal injury.

“This was a senseless altercation,” Mulholland said. “Anthony Williams leaves behind two children. The defendant three. These children will suffer the most over a foolish argument and one party brandishing a firearm.

“Individuals need to realize their actions result in consequences often beyond their own”

The case was headed to trial and a jury had been seated when Crimley decided to plead.

In the second case, Mulholland said Bobby Lee Beck was convicted of child molestation and incest. Prosecutors sought and Beck received a 50-year sentence, 25 years to be served in state prison.

Mulholland said Beck had sexual intercourse with a relative under the age of 16.

“Crimes against children are the most vile, absolutely unforgivable acts in our judicial system,” the prosecutor said. “I congratulate the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and Lily Pad SANE Center in Albany for putting together an excellent case and making our job easier.”
