ALBANY — Police were searching Sunday for Dominique Maurice Davis, a 29-year-old Pelham man being sought for murder in the early morning shooting homicide of a second Pelham man in the parking lot of the Sand Trap on Radium Springs Road, Albany Police Department spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said.

“This subject should be considered armed and dangerous,” Banks said.

The slaying of Travion Jones, 25, also of Pelham, brings to 20 the number of homicides that have occurred in the city of Albany so far this year.

“APD detectives believe an altercation began inside the club between the victim and the suspect, then spilled over into the parking lot where the shooting took place,” Banks said.

Albany police said a murder warrant had been issued against Davis, whose last known addresses were 291 Burlum St. S.W. and 194 Mitchell St., both in Pelham.

Davis is described as a black male who is 6 feet tall and weighs 160 pounds.

Banks said police were called to the parking lot at the Sand Trap, 1402 Radium Springs Road, at 2:05 a.m. Sunday.

Police ask that anyone with information on Davis call Albany Area Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS or an APD investigator at (229) 431-2100 or (229) 431-3288.

The latest slaying comes after Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler, other officials and the local Stop the Violence organization announced plans for a symbolic funeral procession on Pine Avenue scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

The original plans called for 19 hearses, each representing one of the 19 homicide victims at that time, to travel to the Government Center, where a rally has been planned to encourage the public to speak out and to speak up about violent crime.

Sunday morning, Fowler said one more vehicle will be added to the somber procession.

“It’s 20 now,” Fowler said. “It just makes it worse.”
