ALBANY — Police said Tuesday they were seeking three individuals for questioning in the Friday homicide of Javis Walker, who was fatally shot during a robbery attempt at the Dollar General at 1906 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.

Albany police say Walker is a hero for attempting to stop the armed robbery at the store.

Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said the three people, two of whom have active warrants against them, were “only persons of interest at this time.”

Police are looking for Cohen Scott Mathews, 22, and Heather Nicole Jeffcoat, 32, who have active warrants for their arrests. Those warrants are not connected to the Dollar General holdup and shooting, police said.

Police also wanted to talk with Lisa Marie Grigg, 22. Banks said late Tuesday that Grigg came to the Law Enforcement Center Tuesday and spoke with investigators.

“APD Investigations would like to speak with three persons of interest concerning information they may have about the homicide from 1906 East Oglethorpe Boulevard,” Banks said earlier.

Walker died in one of three shooting-death homicides last week, which also included a fourth shooting incident in which a victim was seriously injured. Walker was killed when armed robbers struck around 12:45 p.m. and police say he attempted to interrupt the robbery at the store he frequented.
