Child death investigation ongoing in Lee County

LEESBURG — Officials in Lee County were investigating on Friday the circumstances that led to the death of a 13-year-old girl earlier in the week.

Investigator Josh Davis with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said that the investigation was ongoing regarding the death of Allie Jones, 13, who died at her home on Wednesday.

“Anytime there is a child death in Lee County, we look into it,” he said.

Davis said he could not comment regarding the cause or manner of death, and that investigators were waiting for some test results to come back.
