ALBANY — Police investigators report that a 24-year-old man was shot in the pelvis early this morning at the Royal Inn, 821 W. Highland Ave.

According to Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman with the Albany Police Department, shortly after midnight Anthony Hood and an unidentified individual got into a physical altercation, during which the man pulled a handgun. As Hood and the assailant struggled over the weapon, Hood was shot in the pelvis area.

Hood was later transported to the hospital for treatment and was released, Banks said. She said Hood was being interviewed by detectives concerning the incident this morning.

No description of the suspect is yet available, Banks said, and the case is still ongoing.
