ALBANY — A former day care facility on Holloway Avenue caught fire early Monday, officials with the Albany Fire Department said.
Sam Harris, arson investigator for the AFD, said a call came in at 12:45 a.m. Monday from a passerby reporting that the building at 614 Holloway Ave. was on fire. The structure’s roof was damaged by fire in most places, and the fire compromised 90 percent of the structure, he said.
Harris said the blaze was under control after 45 minutes, and firefighters were on the scene for several hours later conducting overhaul.
The arson investigator said Monday that the cause and origin of the fire was being looked into, as well as who might have been occupying the structure. The facility served as a day care center several years ago, he said.
