ALBANY — The hijacking of a motor vehicle was reported to the Albany Police Department Saturday afternoon, reports show.

The incident was reported from 509 N. Westover Blvd. at around 1:45 p.m. after a theft had taken place at 326 Station Crossing Drive, a report said.

Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said the victim told police she went to a neighborhood off of Lockett Station Road in her 2012 gray Dodge Charger with her boyfriend. After arriving, she left with her boyfriend’s sister. About 10 minutes later, the boyfriend called and said her vehicle had been stolen.

Banks said the victim immediately called police and went to her residence on North Westover. She said she had cash in the vehicle along with an undetermined amount of hair and other miscellaneous items.

Officers interviewed the boyfriend, who said his girlfriend drove him out to a place where his “homeboy” was located. He advised once she left, an unidentified man with his face covered pointed a rifle at him and demanded money. He said he exited the vehicle. When he began to back away from the vehicle his homeboy pulled out a handgun then demanded him to empty his pockets, Banks said.

He said he ran from the scene and called his girlfriend telling her the vehicle was stolen, Bank said.

Banks said the case was still active on Monday and had been forwarded to the APD Criminal Investigation Bureau.
