Recent Dougherty High graduate Darius Heppard awarded $3,000 scholarship

ALBANY — Darius Heppard, who recently graduated from Dougherty Comprehensive High School, is a recipient of a $3,000 Crawford Johnson, III and Walker Johnson Jones college scholarship.

The Crawford Johnson, III and Walker Johnson Jones Scholarship programs were established to provide scholarships to eligible children and grandchildren of the employees of Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED, Inc. who are pursuing undergraduate degrees at recognized educational institutions.

“Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED has been a family-focused company for more than 116 years,” Walker Jones, Coca-Cola UNITED board member, said. “I am so pleased that we are able to provide college scholarships to the children and grandchildren of our associates.”

Darius is the son of Daryn Heppard, who is employed at the Sylvester Sales Center of Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED in Sylvester.

Officials said scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic performance, leadership, extracurricular activities and service.
