ALBANY — Every year, summer brings school breaks and the Dougherty County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. The program’s theme this year is “Libraries Rock.”

A kick-off party and sign-up drive are set to take place on Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m at the Northwest Branch Library, located at 2507 Dawson Road.

The library plans to host various activities, such as story times, interactive performances, games and crafts. These activities are open to readers of all ages. Program participants can also receive prizes that local businesses donated to encourage people to keep reading.

In partnership from the Georgia Aquarium, individuals who register for the SRP and check out five or more books by May 29 may take part in a raffle to win two tickets to the aquarium.

The Summer Reading Program will last from through July 21.
