ALBANY — The Albany Police Department announced several arrests over the last few days, including nabbing a suspect wanted in connection to a January murder and another suspect wanted in connection to an armed robbery.
Twenty-one-year-old Anthony Dawson Jr. was taken into custody after law enforcement conducted a search warrant at 2020 Beachview Drive, where Dawson was staying, according to reports.
“The search also resulted in two firearms recovered,” an APD press release said. “Additional warrants have been taken for the home to help with gathering more evidence. Dawson was in custody shortly after 2 p.m.
Another man taken into custody was Joseph Grice. Officers charged him with giving a false name and for an outstanding warrant for criminal trespass. Unknown at this time is his connection to Dawson.
“The search for Dawson is in connection to a Jan. 13, 2018 homicide that occurred at 2209 South Jackson St. and resulted in the shooting death of Anthony Dawson IV,” the APD release said. “Dawson’s brother, 20-year-old Gernard Dawson, has already been arrested and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.”
Armed robbery suspect Demetrious Williams, in a separate incident and arrest, was taken into custody in the 1000 block of West Gordon Ave. after a brief foot chase with Albany police, reports indicate.
Williams was wanted in connection to incidents that occurred at the Prima Food Mart, located at 210 South Jefferson St. on Jan. 28, and Devi’s, located at 1400 Palmyra Road, on Jan. 24.
