I’m as big a bleeding-heart liberal as you’re likely to find in these parts, but I was dumbfounded by Henry Brown’s ignorant letter to the editor encouraging black voters to support black county commissioners simply because they stick together and vote in a block. Encouraging people to ignore any virtue or vice of a politician and to discount the wisdom or imprudence of any position that politician might espouse simply because he or she shares your skin color is the most senseless argument I’ve heard in a long time.

The misinformation machine sure is busy sending anti-Phoebe messages into the Squawkbox. Maybe some of the thousands of people whose lives have been saved by Phoebe or who have good jobs because of Phoebe should get to squawkin’.

Thank you, Mr. Henry Brown, for the most blatant example of reverse racism to be seen in recent memory. I guess you forgot what Doctor King said.

It’s hilarious how the GOP candidates are using scare tactics to get votes. Are the people of Georgia really that ignorant about immigration?

It should anger all taxpayers of Dougherty County to know that our district attorney’s office can’t keep help. They shift blame so that no one has to claim responsibility for anything. You can’t get a call back, update or straight answer from anyone. Then they can’t believe a victim of a huge monetary theft would be upset because we have not had an indictment in a case in 17 months. Greg Edwards is not the leader for this job.

If you read Henry M. Brown’s racist letter to the editor in Tuesday’s Albany Herald you will understand why Albany is in a state of decay. The Henry Browns are destroying what good is still left in our community.

I wish the Albany Police Department would provide funeral escorts like our surrounding counties do.

So, a national organization of government workers chooses Michael McCoy as the best administrator in the state of Georgia, but four of our county commissioners don’t think he’s good enough to hire for the job he’s already doing? Yeah, that makes sense.

Recent reports indicate that another less traveled section of Georgia 133 is under contract to be paved. With the funds already appropriated, one wonders why the Dougherty County Commission has not purchased the rights of way for their section, thereby being in a position to request the state DOT go ahead and bid the most northern section and more heavily traveled part of the highway rather than waiting until the rest of the less traveled highway is completed.

I see city/county employees working to keep Albany/Dougherty beautiful every week. The county needs more people to volunteer. My neighborhood has to frequently clean up our main roadways because of debris flying off trucks and thrown from cars. Albany/Dougherty can’t clean all roadways everyday.

Squawker who thinks all comedians are vulgar: Some comedians are very funny without vulgarity. Most we see on TV are vulgar and mean, usually liberals.
