Pizza Shop cuts ribbon

ALBANY– The Pizza Shop in downtown Albany officially cut the ribbon on 2012 Tuesday as it continues to reinvent itself in hopes of picking up more business and growing in the new year.
The restaurant is owned and operated by Fran Bragg and Jack Mannino, the daughter and son of Albany culinary royalty Vinny and “Mama” Gina Mannino, who have been in the Italian food business in Albany for more than 30 years.
And while the restaurant has been open for a few months at its downtown location, Bragg and her staff plan to expand their hours and start a series of new promotional campaigns meant to help draw people downtown.
Starting this week, the restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
The Pizza Shop’s re-emergence is one of several business developments downtown.
My Sister’s Place, a clothing and retail boutique, has opened at Washington Street and Broad Avenue, while Booters, the former sports bar next to the Exchange building on Washington, has reinvented itself as the “Bar Code,” and has started hosting events, the first of which is a Black and White theme night this Saturday.
Our Daily Bread, a bakery and vegetable goods store next to the Bar Code, is in the process of remodeling with owners expecting to open the doors next week.
