MILLEDGEVILLE – Georgia Military College has once again set a new standard for youth leadership development, hosting hundreds of JROTC cadets from across Georgia for this year’s JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge camp. Nearly 700 cadets from more than 50 high schools converged in Milledgeville for a week of leadership training and personal growth, transforming the city into a vibrant center of youthful energy and ambition.

JCLC camps at GMC continue to grow in prestige as does the dedication of cadets from all over the state. Over three intensive weeks, cadets engaged in a series of challenging and enriching activities designed to hone their leadership skills, foster teamwork, and promote personal development.

GMC’s state-of-the-art facilities played a pivotal role in the experience. Cadets tackled the Leadership Reaction Course, which demanded quick thinking and effective decision-making, while GMC’s Lake Lot provided a venue for confidence-building water activities like drownproofing, problem-solving, and canoeing. The thrilling rappel tower challenged cadets to confront their fears and demonstrate their bravery, and the Baugh Barracks, along with the Bulldog Cafe, offered comfortable accommodations and dining.

The camp was not only about physical challenges; it also featured meaningful interactions with GMC’s senior leadership. These exchanges gave cadets insights into the collegiate and military education opportunities available at the college. The senior leaders’ engagement highlighted the pathways to success through dedication and hard work, reinforcing the camp’s core values.

A ceremonial highlight of the camp is the graduation event, where outstanding cadets and rising seniors were honored with collegiate scholarship opportunities, paving their way to join GMC’s U.S. Army ROTC Early Commissioning Program or the State Service Scholarship Program. These scholarships represent a significant step toward higher education and military leadership roles, underscoring the camp’s commitment to the future success of its participants.

“Hosting the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge camp is a profound honor for Georgia Military College,” Georgia Military College Operations Officer Maj. Benjamin Carrick said. “The remarkable turnout and the exceptional talent we’ve seen this year affirm our dedication to cultivating the next generation of authentic servant leaders. We are proud to provide these young cadets with experiences and skills that will shape their futures and inspire them to achieve greatness.”

The last graduation ceremony for JCLC camps this summer takes place Saturday at 10 a.m.
