Worth County woman killed in two-vehicle wreck

SYLVESTER — Officials with the Georgia State Patrol say that Gretchen Townsend, 51, died in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday in Worth County.
Trooper 1st Class Robert Corbin, with GSP Post 40,said that around 7 p.m. Saturday, Townsend was driving east on Jewel Crowe Road in Worth County in a 2007 Ford Focus when she entered the intersection at Georgia Highway 313 without stopping at the stop sign.
According to Corbin, a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado hauling a boat and trailer, driven by Gregory Crumley, 22, collided with the Focus, hitting at the driver’s side door. Townsend, a Worth County resident, was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner, Corbin said.
An 84-year-old female passenger in the Silverado was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital with non-fatal injuries, Corbin said. Two male passengers in the pickup truck sustained minor cuts and abrasions.
No charges were filed in the collision, Corbin said.
