Article a reminder of life in Albany
By Elizabeth Killebrew
I just had a most welcome and delightful surprise. In my Facebook “feed,” an article from The Albany Herald popped up concerning the Anchorage facility plans for construction of a chapel to be named in honor of Ginny Hayman (recently deceased mother-in-law of my niece, Anita).
This small moment drove home with a sharp strike the concept that the world is becoming. I lived in Albany through my middle school, high school and college years. My mother was a supporter of that facility. I married, moved to Honolulu, returned to Albany briefly, then to Gainesville, Fla., for 45 years, then retired to Cuenca, Ecuador in the Andes, where we have enjoyed a new adventure in living for three and half years.
Yet, here I sit having morning coffee, looking out from my condo terrace at the magnificent mountain view at the edge of the city, and reading about a town, and remembering with pleasure how many learning experiences occurred in Albany and a goofy little grin could not be repressed.
Thank you, Albany Herald.
