If Phoebe Hospital were not under a 10-year (actually five-year, Ed.) moratorium to challenge other local community hospitals due to the Palmyra purchase agreement, do you think the Dougherty County Commission would be filing lawsuits to challenge the hospital in Lee County?

I have read the restraining order that was issued by the Dougherty County Commission, and it specifically states that there must be a need for the community in order for a CON to be issued. So if you go back and look at all the ratings that have been accumulated by Phoebe in recent years, there is certainly a need for higher quality of health care that is not being met locally by their facilities.

The taxpayers of Lee County better hope that the new Lee County Medical Center does not turn into another Grand Island. How many times did we hear that Grand Island would be self-supporting?

So Paul Ryan forces the House Chaplain to resign for praying for the needy and for leaders to be their best and protect those in need for being “too political.” Praying for what Jesus taught was a firing offense.

Dougherty County Commission you just need to STOP! I cannot begin to imagine how much of my tax dollars you continue to waste on this hospital ordeal with Lee County. In fact, this is not an ordeal. Please stop wasting money and time trying to keep Lee County from building a hospital.

Dougherty County Commissioner John Hayes should resign prior to being replaced in the next election. He has put citizens’ tax funds at risk with his inappropriate actions that resulted in a lawsuit, and now we learn he has put citizens at risk with extremely excessive speeding twice in one day. He is a poor example for the commission.

Thank you, Chris Cohilas, for having the courage to stand up to bullies and do what you believe is right for the citizens of Dougherty County.
