To the Squawker who says some obits are too long: Many of us enjoy reading about the lives that others have lived and the legacies they leave behind. Many of them serve as an inspiration to others, and they deserve to be recognized for the things they’ve done.

To the squawker critical of those who attended the King Day Dinner: Obviously, you weren’t there and you haven’t a clue what you’re talking about. I am a white man who is involved in numerous organizations and activities to move our community forward. I was sitting next to an African-American community servant who probably did more for Albany before breakfast than these complainers will do all the year. The speaker’s emotional call for unity was just what this community needed to hear, and I was proud to be among the “backward” group in attendance.

Interesting article about the Lutheran church couples all married over 60 years, especially the couple that drove to Alaska in the middle of the winter. My wife and I took our dog and drove to Alaska once. Me and the dog never had a cross word.

So the Democrat leader said the DNC must reach out to “colored people” and he had to resign. If only he had said “people of color” he would have received a BET Humanitarian of the Year award. See how stupid the thought police are?

When the hands-free and the no-texting law takes effect, who’s going to stop the “have to talk and text people” from talking and texting? The cops do it all the time; are they exempt? They should be fined, too.

Perhaps Mr. McCoy could apply for the city manager job of Pelham.

A typical 30-minute WALB news program consists of about 10 minutes of national news, 10 minutes of Thomasville and Valdosta, 5 minutes of sports and weather and the other 5 is split between Albany, other towns and commercials.

Since the city has taken over utilities, the service has deteriorated and the help has apparently been reduced also. There was never this problem before.

Monday’s squawker hit the nail on the head: No qualified candidates for county and city department managers are going to apply for jobs in Dougherty County. Why risk your future or enter into working conditions with the current leadership in Albany and Dougherty county?

I’ve visited both Moultrie and Thomasville during the past month. Their efforts in revitalizing their downtowns puts Albany to shame. I think the city’s downtown manager is asleep at the wheel.

I sure hope (the Squawker) didn’t have the “special” lights put up. We have been waiting six months for them on my street.

You like Trump, but do you like that his businesses hire foreigners or immigrants more than Americans? You like buying Trump products from China or some other country? Why aren’t they manufactured here to Make America Great Again? Why does Trump bully American companies about their production? His ideology is to reward himself and his family, and he’s using Americans to do it.
