The published statement by County Commissioner John Hayes is useless dribble. Sure would be interested to read what his “Vision for the future” of Dougherty County is in a cogent written statement. But who would write it for him?

John Hayes did nothing to help his district during the storms, but Chris Cohilas was there everyday. We need more leaders who actually care about this community.

Welcome, Jada and Gypsy! Good to see new faces at The Herald.

Working relations would be forever strained if McCoy became county administrator. He was unwise to sue the first time.

Mike McCoy is a good man and a fine administrator. The only reason to vote against the person independent experts rated as the most qualified candidate is petty, political retribution, pure and simple. Those four commissioners are not doing what’s best for Dougherty County.

This is to the Squawker talking about dysfunctional: Democrats are the dysfunctional family down the street.

Never thought I would see the day that I would wish that Harry James was back on the County Commission.

Mr. McCoy’s engagement in an altercation with an elected public official shows lack of proper temperament to serve as county administrator. Congratulations to the commissioners for making this courageous decision. Chairman Cohilas has taken a cowardice stand for fear of a lawsuit.

It is a sad day in Albany when our people cannot come together for the good of our city. If Micheal McCoy is qualified for the job, what is the problem? Mr. Hayes said that the city needs to go in a different direction. Just what direction are you talking about? Mr. McCoy, when they go low, please continue to look up.

John Hayes is an embarrassment to Dougherty County. The people he represents should be embarrassed. If they vote him in again, this county will be in ruins.

I am so sick of seeing all the litter and trash around Albany. It’s like we’re in a third-world country. I wish our mayor would step up and get something done.

It’s obvious, from Mr. Hayes’ well-scripted press release, that the hatchet job was in place from the beginning. And it’s obvious from the other three that they are pawns in Mr. Hayes’ hands and do NOT have the county’s best interest in mind.

To my commissioner, Gloria Gaines: Please be prepared to see the same unjust treatments when time comes for you to be re-elected. Yours will be well-deserved. You have a qualified, intelligent, humble and pleasant young man ready to take the baton from Richard Crowdis. Your lack of knowledge and influence has put the Good Life City in one humiliating mess. To the former 4-H person, Hayes and Second Mt. Olive member, you all will be remembered as well when its your time for re-election. Pride before the fall.

I like reading the newspaper, but I can live without it on Saturdays. The new policy is good for two reasons: It helps the newspaper hold on longer, and it gives the carriers a break. I’m OK with no newspaper on Saturday.
