ABAC SANR Golf Classic to support student scholarships, professional development

| TIFTON, Ga. — The Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) School of Agriculture and Natural Resources (SANR) will host its annual SANR Golf Classic on Friday, Oct. 9, raising funds to support student scholarships and professional development opportunities.The tournament will be held at Forest Lakes Golf Course, with flights beginning at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The event will feature a four-person scramble format with a shotgun start. |
Hillery Culpepper, development officer, said the tournament offers an opportunity for alumni, community members, businesses and friends of ABAC to support SANR students while enjoying a day on the course.
“We encourage everyone who loves ABAC, agriculture and our students to come out and play or consider sponsoring this year’s tournament,” Culpepper said. “Every sponsorship and every team helps us invest in the students who will become the next generation of leaders in agriculture.”
Dr. Andrew Thoron, dean of the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources, said proceeds from the tournament will directly enhance the educational opportunities available to SANR students.
“These funds help us provide our students with hands-on experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom and strengthen their preparation for careers in agriculture,” Thoron said. “Supporting the SANR Golf Classic is an investment in our students and in their overall experience at ABAC.”
Several sponsorship and participation opportunities are available:
- Presenting Sponsor, $5,000: Includes two teams, or eight players, with team participation optional; premier recognition on promotional materials, event signage, social media, the tournament program and golf carts; year-round signage in the SANR Leadership Hall; an ABAC Homecoming Rodeo VIP package with two parking passes and eight tickets; a premier vendor location at SANR Career Connections; invitations to select SANR special events with the option for a company display; and lunch, snacks, beverages, cart and green fees and a tournament gift.
- Stallions Sponsor, $2,500: Includes one team, or four players, with team participation optional; recognition on promotional materials, event signage, social media, the tournament program and golf carts; an ABAC Homecoming Rodeo VIP package with one parking pass and four tickets; invitations to select SANR special events with the option for a company display; and lunch, snacks, beverages, cart and green fees and a tournament gift.
- Fillies Sponsor, $1,000: Includes one team, or four players, with team participation optional; recognition on event signage, the tournament program and golf carts; and lunch, snacks, beverages, cart and green fees and a tournament gift.
- Green and Gold Hole Sponsor, $200: Includes logo signage at a designated hole.
- Friends of SANR Sponsor, $100: Includes recognition in the tournament program.
- Team of Four, $500: Includes four players, lunch, snacks, water, soft drinks, cart and green fees and a tournament gift.
- Mulligans, $5: Players may purchase up to four mulligans each.
Sponsorship opportunities are available through Sept. 18. Teams of four may register through the day of the tournament, as space remains available.

Current sponsors for the event include BrightView, Oglethorpe Power, Kelley Manufacturing, Packaging Corporation of America, Tall Pines Forestry Services LLC, Georgia Cotton Commission, Georgia Cattlemen’s Association, and Georgia Beef Board. Funds raised through the SANR Golf Classic provide financial support for ABAC students while giving faculty and staff additional opportunities for professional growth. Together, these investments strengthen the hands-on education and career preparation that are central to the SANR experience at ABAC.
