A’Chanti Layfield lands at College of Coastal Georgia

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — College of Coastal Georgia women’s basketball coach Roger Hodge has announced the addition of former Westover High School standout A’Chanti Layfield to the 2016-17 Mariners team.

The 5-foot-6 junior guard played last season at Central Georgia Technical College where she averaged 6.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

“We have added another athletic presence to our team in A’Chanti Layfield,” Hodge said. “Her versatility is another thing that stood out in watching her play. A’Chanti is not only very quick, but she is a great passer, handles the ball well, can shoot the three and gets to the rim. She is also an energy player who plays the game with great passion. I am very excited about what A’Chanti Layfield will add to our program.”

Layfield was a four-year letterman at Westover where she played under coach Lewis Smith.
