Albany State’s women’s basketball team outscored Miles by 14 points in the first half en route to a 71-60 road victory Thursday.
Elesha Foster led Albany State (17-11) with 20 points. Tyra Thompson had 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Kayla Green added 12 points.
Victoria Sutton paced Miles with 11 points.
Point (softball) 11-0, Albany State 0-3
Point’s softball team rolled to a five-inning victory in the first game of a doubleheader Friday before Albany State bounced back for the win in Game 2.
Ryan Simpson threw a three-hit, six-strikeout shutout victory in Game 1 for Point. Lauren Lowery took the loss. Lacy Striblin went 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI for Point in the opener.
Aryn McGowan scattered four hits while striking out four in a complete-game win for Albany State in Game 2. Lavette Tucker went 2-for-2 with a home run in Game 2, while Brianna Murillo had a home run and two RBI.
Albany State (baseball) 11, Auburn-Montgomery 1
The Albany State baseball team posted an eight-run fifth inning to roll to victory Thursday.
Riliani Familia went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI for Albany State. Kelvin Wimbish, Theodore Smith and Quan Dodson-Williams each had two hits.
Roman Oliu picked up the win on the mound, going five innings in improving to 2-0.
‘Meet the Rams’ Sunday
The Albany State athletics department will host “Meet The Golden Rams” on Sunday at Center Court of Albany Mall.
According to a news release, the event will run from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and will feature autograph sessions and photo opportunities with Albany State’s spring sports athletes and coaches.
