Deerfield-Windsor beats Frederica in GISA girls soccer semis

The Deerfield-Windsor girls soccer team defeated Frederica 4-0 on Friday in the semifinals of the GISA playoffs in Macon.
The Knights (14-2-2) advance to play Augusta Prep in Saturday’s 4 p.m. championship match at Five Star Stadium on the campus of Mercer University.
Deerfield-Windsor scored a goal in the first 15 minutes, taking a 1-0 lead into an unscheduled break caused by a thunderstorm. After a two-hour layoff, the match resumed, with the Knights putting three more goals on the board.
Emilee Foy scored twice for Deerfield-Windsor, with Rachel Bonner and Bernadette Takash also scoring.
Earlier Friday, Augusta Prep beat Trinity Christian-Sharpsburg 3-1. Saturday’s match will mark the fifth straight year Deerfield-Windsor and Augusta Prep will meet in the postseason.
