FLOWERY BRANCH — Jammie Robinson’s latest opportunity with the Atlanta Falcons lasted less than a week.

The Falcons released Robinson on Thursday, days after promoting the former Lee County High School standout from the practice squad to the active roster.

Atlanta elevated Robinson last week when linebacker Yasir Abdullah was placed on injured reserve. His release marks another turn in a professional career that has included stops with the Carolina Panthers and Falcons.

Robinson originally joined Atlanta’s practice squad earlier this season before earning the promotion.

The Carolina Panthers selected Robinson in the fifth round with the 145th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft following his college career at Florida State. He appeared in 29 games, including two starts, during his time with Carolina and Atlanta, recording 21 tackles, including 14 solo stops.

Before reaching the NFL, Robinson established himself as one of the most accomplished defensive players in Lee County history.

He helped the Trojans finish 15-0 and win the 2018 GHSA Class 6A state championship, anchoring a defense that recorded six shutouts. Robinson was named the Class 6A Defensive Player of the Year, earned first-team all-state honors and was selected as the Albany-area Defensive Player of the Year.

Robinson played collegiately at South Carolina before transferring to Florida State, where he became a two-time first-team All-ACC selection.

The transaction leaves Robinson free to pursue another opportunity. He also could return to Atlanta’s practice squad if the Falcons choose to bring him back and a roster opening becomes available.
