ROCK HILL, S.C. — -Wingate University track and field freshman sprinter Tarah Young (Albany, Ga.) and sophomore thrower Hannah Hinson (Gates, N.C.) are the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week, league officials announceD Wednesday. Hinson is honored for the first time this season and the second time in her career, while Young is recognized for the first time in her WU tenure.

Young won the 200-meter dash at High Point’s VertKlasse Meeting with a season-best time of 24.17. This posting is number one in the SAC and number four in the NCAA Division II entering this weekend’s competitions. During the indoor season, Young was named to the USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region team in both the 200 meters and the 400 meters.

In the very competitive Southeast Region, Young was the number one indoor performer in the 400 meters with her time of 56.47 at the JDL Fast Track College Kick-off Classic in December.

She concluded her indoor season by running a 24.74 in the 200 meters at the Clemson Tiger Tune-Up (Feb. 17), good enough for second in the region.
