The Westwood girls basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the GISA Class 2A girls basketball tournament with a 73-15 victory over St. George’s on Friday at Georgia Southwestern.

The Wildcats will face Robert Toombs, a 53-27 winner over Briarwood, at 2:30 p.m. next Friday at Mercer’s Hawkins Arena.

Also Friday at Georgia Southwestern, Brentwood defeated Terrell Academy 53-42.

Pelham (baseball) 14-10, Chattahoochee County 4-0

A five-run third inning keyed Pelham’s first win in a doubleheader sweep Friday.

Levi Jacobs went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI for Pelham in the opener. Noah Russ went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Gunner Wisham went the distance for the Game 1 victory, striking out eight and walking five while giving up four hits in a six-inning win.

In the second game, Dakota McEntyre pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 10 and walking two.

Doug Curles and Levi Jacobs each had two hits in the second game, with Curles driving home three runs and Josh Beck driving home two. McEntyre had a triple.

Baconton Charter (baseball) 8, Miller County 1

A three-run third inning and a five-run fifth carried Baconton Charter on Friday.

Smith Pinson, Spencer Culp and Stone Pinson each picked up two hits for Baconton. Culp, who had two doubles, drove home two runs.

Smith Pinson went the distance for the pitching victory, striking out eight and walking two while allowing four hits.

Westover (baseball) 6, Seminole County 4

Westover scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to prevail Thursday.

La’Borris Buchanan went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Westover, while Kedarrius Cunningham went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Jordan Walton added a double.

Davis Spalinger pitched 3-1/3 innings in relief for the win.

Worth County (baseball) 10, Turner County 0

A five-run first and a five-run fifth carried Worth County on Thursday.

Cason King went 2-for-3 for Worth County. Gabe Goff scored two runs and drove home two runs, while Garrett Kelly also drove home two runs.

Jeremiah Reddell went the distance for the victory, giving up two hits and no walks while striking out 10.
