Trio of Valdosta State football games to be televised on ESPN3
VSU Blazers will be featured in three of 10 televised Gulf South games

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State will be featured three times on ESPN3 this season as part of the Florida’s Space Coast Gulf South Conference Football Game of the Week package of 10 conference games.
The Blazers, who open their season Sept. 2 against the Albany State Golden Rams in Albany, will have their home opener on Sept. 16 against long-time rival North Alabama televised live on the ESPN3.
VSU games against West Georgia on Oct. 7 at Carrollton and at home in Valdosta Oct. 14 against Mississippi College also will be available on ESPN3 and the ESPN app.
“The Gulf South Conference’s Game of the Week package has been a leader in Division II since its inception. Continuing our relationship with ESPN provides unparalleled exposure and distribution for the GSC,” GSC Commissioner Matt Wilson said. ” We believe that the ESPN digital platforms are ideal for our fans, student-athletes, and future recruits.”
VSU is aiming for its sixth postseason appearance in eight seasons. This is head coach Kerwin Bell’s second season at the helm. The Blazers’ preseason practices start Aug. 4. The Blazers were 8-3 last season, averaging 34.6 points per game and holding oppoents to an average of 24.4 points.
