If you really think about it, it is always taxpayer money. Whether it goes to a corporation for goods and services or to the federal government, it comes out of your pocket. But at least we can exercise the choice and not give our money to companies and their billionaire CEOs that support the fall of democracy to extend their control.

There used to be this thing of people “pulling themselves up by their bootstraps,” meaning they worked hard to take care of their own problems. Now, all these people with their hands out want you to pull them up by your bootstraps. As we continue to flounder as a nation, this is getting old.

Rest in peace, NYC: 1624-2025.

Antifa was not responsible for Jan. 6. What possible motivation would they have had for storming the Capitol, since Trump lost? Also, if it was Antifa, why did Trump wait so long to call in troops instead of sitting there watching it on TV while Sean Hannity and his own daughter begged him to do something? The answer is, it was MAGA, not Antifa. That Man Without a Family

It’ll be odd watching the Braves play under someone not named Snit, but Walt Weiss may be a good choice.

With Colette Jenkins joining Diana Brown on the Albany City Commission, it’ll be interesting to see which one can out-ignorant and out-racist the other. A sad, sad day in Albany’s diminishing history.

Reading the Herald writeup about the nonprofit Feeding The Valley, an arm of Feeding America,  I was amused that the local chapter is asking to raise $500,000 for SNAP replacement. They don’t ask for cans of peas or beans anymore; they need that cash to pay the CEO of Feeding America over $1 million a year and other upper management people $500,000. Food insecurity is the latest buzz word for all of these nonprofits, when in reality it hardly exists.

That whirring sound everyone hears at Arlington National Cemetery is the sound of national heroes over this country’s 250 years of history spinning in their graves.

A double B.J. whammy. She tells us who we should not vote for and then pens an article in which she suggests we should pay attention to her set of facts versus others’. I will never forget the facts of your previous commission decisions nor your stance on programs to help the poor in this community. I remember your “they all need to get off the government dole” articles fortified by support of Republican cruelty tax cuts for the rich.

Colette Jenkins made it clear during her campaign that the primary issue she focused on was race. She’s inept and incapable of being a leader … perfect for the Albany Commission.

Damn, a team that loses three or four games a year could drive a coach to drink. Wait … never mind.

Democrats have proved that today’s Democrats are not yesterday’s Democrats. Yesterday’s Democrats put people in front of politics, but today’s Democrats are putting politics ahead of the people. Perhaps lawmakers should not get their paychecks during the government shutdown.

Democrats didn’t win all those national elections because they’re disappointed in Trump. They won by cheating, by illegal voting practices. Our True President is doing a terrific job and should have won the Nobel Peace Prize. Yes, there was a steal there, too.

Another step backwards for Albany commissioners and the city of Albany.. Another unqualified candidate won because of her skin color over a more competent and experienced candidate.Another nail in the coffin of a city that can’t attract good city managers, police chiefs, school teachers/principals or businesses willing to locate downtown.

VP JD Vance and wife Usha are the “Bill and Hillary” of the GOP. A second act to Trump.

Remember a few years back when Albany had to go out and hire the just retired Thomasville utilities manager to come up here and straighten out our utilities that were in such a mess? And he did it in short order. We need to find someone to come in and run the WG&L again. Sending out incorrect bills, mostly incompetent office workers, and nobody within the department to turn to to fix things.

Evangelicals and Christian Nationalists can’t wait to elect the True President a third time. Go MAGA.

B.J., we are all too familiar with folks like you telling us who to listen to, what to care about, and which person not to support because you know best what “we” need. We see you for what you are. You speak freely as if we are unaware of the old okee-doke.

Well, I know B.J. Fletcher got at least one vote in Ward III, because I wrote her in. I couldn’t stomach those other two.

How is it that half of America looks at Donald Trump and doesn’t find him morally repellent? He lies, cheats, steals, betrays, and behaves cruelly and corruptly, and more than 70 million Americans find him morally acceptable? Some even see him as heroic, admirable and wonderful.

Hey, Squawker, you think the rest of the country feels like Trump is “doing what we elected him to do?” Doesn’t appear that way.

Like two blind mice, Schumer and Jefferies can’t see the path ahead. They insist on inflicting unnecessary misery and hardship on their own people for personal gain. I feel sorry for those hard-working Democrats that voted these monsters into office. Harsh lesson taught but unlikely to be learned.

The Man without a Family … you rock.

Thank you, Bob Langstaff, for your decades of service. To replace someone with your intelligence with another racist who knows nothing about local government is a testament to the decline of the American public.

Another Trump mirroring Hitler comparison from history: In 1933 Hitler ordered a 60,000-square-foot ballroom to be built on top of the Chancellery bunker where he later ended his life. In 2025 Trump orders an even larger ballroom, 90,000 square feet, to be built atop the White House bunker. Just another sign and symbol of the fascist dictatorship that is being created in America.

Remember, people, we have the power to get rid of crooked and ineffective politicians. You just have to get off your a$$ and vote. Around here, though, that appears to be too much of a hassle.
