Hey SMRs, as we get close to our 250th birthday, ask grandma and grandpa how the Democrats got them out of the Great Depression that was created by the conservative Republicans. Right-wingers never change.

I know prices are rising and will be even higher given the passing of the “big ugly bill,” but I’m looking at a local fast-food meal that is 300% higher than a few years ago. I repeat, 300% higher. And, no, the workers haven’t got any of that. Telling me “it’s your pleasure” doesn’t help.

So sad to read of the passing of Mr. Jimmy Davis. He may have been small in stature, but he was outsized in performance. He did more for this community than pretty much anyone else you can name. RIP, Mr. Jimmy.

I was extremely disappointed with the story in Tuesday’s Albany Herald supposedly about Albany State’s homecoming. It was instead about the NAMI organization, which might be a worthy group, but what do they have to do with ASU and our homecoming? A very poorly written article that should have been canned by the editor.

I’ve never been a fan of party-switchers (yes, Gerald Greene, I haven’t forgotten you), because these people were elected by voters as representatives of a specific party. But I’m leaning toward giving Geoff Duncan a pass because his reason for switching was legit, not just an attempt to win votes.

I would love to see Pretoria Fields re-open — I was a regular there — but not with Tripp Morgan or some of his (mis)management people in charge. (Chrystal Method, anyone?) And, by the way, city of Albany, if you’ll give me more than $1 million in loans, I promise I will run the brewery or any other business downtown in a professional manner.

Wow, what an embarrassment Trump is. I guess if he calls the Italian leader “beautiful” and talks about a reporter’s “sexy lips,” that doesn’t matter to his blind followers. You people have thrown your morals and ethics away for a con man who is destroying our democracy.

I haven’t seen any information about the coming-up municipal election in Albany. I’ve seen candidates out on the street, but I know nothing about who’s running. Has that been ignored by local journalists?

Thanks to the Herald for printing the state average for the SAT scores this year. The AJC also printed the test scores by each public school in Georgia. The state’s average score was 1,029. The three high schools in Albany’s averages were: Westover, highest at 896, followed by Monroe at 837, and Dougherty at 810.  

More shootings on an almost daily basis. It’s becoming as regular as the long line of high-end cars waiting to get free food from that church on Pine. And people like Heard wonder why citizens are leaving here in droves.

In a very short time, Diana Brown and Willie Weaver have proved they are unfit for service in the city. Certainly there are better alternatives. Brown said she wanted to pick up where Demetrius Young left off. I would assume that means she wants to continue his racist, self-centered “leadership.” Mission accomplished.

Since 9 out of 10 times APD shows up reactively after the crime is already done, a $400k armored vehicle seems like a waste of ticket funds and a silly purchase for a small city. And you certainly don’t need it to catch the 12-foot-tall Chevy pickup with no tail lights that passed us going 80 earlier on Dawson just now, or the lime-green Charger that audibly terrorizes ASU West every day.

Stop the Norwegian Steal! The Nobel Peace Prize voting was rigged in Oslo. I hope the King takes action. I hope the True President can right this tremendous wrong by finding enough votes to win.

Yo, dead head Squawker: Ain’t no “Communist core” in the Democratic Party. It’s your boy in bed with Putin and the Russian wing of the Republican Party. You either been under a rock or in a hard place. All roads lead to the Orange Menace.

Martin Sheen says the Trump administration is the most corrupt administration in American history. Obviously, he is totally confused with the Biden administration, because the Biden administration was by far the most corrupt administration in recent history. 

What amazes me continuously are the people who obviously are too dumb to note that they’re being ripped off by a con man and his band of idiots who are corrupting the American government, perhaps forever. They keep making excuses … dumb, dumb, dumb.

The True President will never win the Nobel Peace Prize for promoting Democracy when he’s trying to overthrow the Democracy he is running.

Squawker, you say Trump is doing exactly what you and the rest of the herd voted for him to do. Like … shutting down the government and lying about the reason why, embarrassing the country with inappropriate comments to other foreign leaders, instructing the boobs in his government to lie and deflect to defend him, sending the economy soaring out of control, and just generally making an ass of himself … and people like you who say he’s doing what you voted for him to do.

If the city is serious about catching the folks dumping trash/debris, they need to look no further. Concrete work was done on a driveway on Ashford Drive last week. The concrete company drove right around the corner to Old Dominion and dumped their remaining concrete at what is a leaf/limb pick-up site. The concrete has set and hardened. It will be there forever unless the contractor is made to come and get it up.

The coach is back after two weeks?! He says it was a “leave of absence” and the School Board says it was a “suspension.” Who else can remember educators terminated for getting a DUI and setting a bad example?

It was divine justice that Marina Machado, a Venezuelan woman, won the Nobel Peace Prize and not Trump. Of course, he has actively campaigned for it and says he should have won. Trump also claimed that Machado called him to say she accepted the award in his honor because he really deserved it. This is a lie. If this and other recent, bat-crazy behavior aren’t proof it’s time to invoke the 25th amendment, I don’t know what is.

APD’s call for parents “to get more involved” hasn’t worked for 25 years. Insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. APD must stop ignoring cancers driving working families away. Deafening stereos, street racing, illegal window tints, bad behavior in restaurants, illegal lifts and mufflers, thugs in handicapped parking. Clean it up.  

Why did Kirby Smart stick his tongue out after the game Saturday night?  What is he trying to lick?  Act like a grownup.

Socialism is sweeping through the Democratic Party? This is very advantageous because it has succeeded and eased severe poverty everywhere it has been tried. You only need to look as far as Sweden or Finland to see how an economy can be strengthened.
