ALBANY — There were a series of burglaries that the Albany Police Department investigated in the early morning hours of Monday, reports show.

Officers responded to MLK Grocery, at 2403 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, at around 4:45 a.m.

Officers responded in reference to an activated alarm. Upon arrival, the officers observed a hole in the wall in the rear of the store where forced entry was made. Upon arrival of the key holder, it was revealed that the business was burglarized and assorted cigarettes, cash and lottery tickets were taken, police officials said. The suspects were described as four unknown males.

At 2:50 a.m., at Dixie Foods at 1400 E. Broad Ave., there was another burglary. While patrolling, officers observed an unknown male dressed in all black and red tennis shoes standing on the side of the business. The suspect ran into a wooded area behind the business. Officers canvassed the area but did not find him. The officer checked the business and located a large hole in the wall in the rear of the business — but entry was not made, officials said. The suspects in that case were also described as four unknown males.

The Dollar General at 1906 E. Oglethorpe Blvd. was also burglarized at around 1:20 a.m. After an alarm was activated, officers responded to the scene to find the front plate glass door busted out, and that assorted cigarettes had been taken, officials said.

Upon arrival of the key holder for Dollar General, it was revealed that the suspects were the same in a burglary at A&S Liquors at 1342 Mobile Ave. In that case, officers responded at around 1 a.m. and found a hole in the east wall, and that the business was entered with an undisclosed amount of cash taken, police officials said.

The suspects from the A&S incident were described as four unknown black males in red shirts with their faces covered, officials said.
