Staff Reports
ALBANY — A free health fair hosted by Albany Area Primary Health Care is planned for Saturday at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds.
The community health fair is in part supported by the Henry Schein Cares’ program, “Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities.” Officials said the program provided a $5,000 grant as well as medical and dental supplies valued at $5,000 to ensure health services.
AAPHC, a community health center with about two dozen sites in Southwest Georgia, will host the fair from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday in celebration of Health Center Week. Event coordinators said families will have an opportunity to receive free screenings for blood pressure, oral health, vision and other services, all for free.
In addition, a variety of activities are planned for children and their families. Educational materials and other health-related resources are expected to be available to families in the Albany area. Licensed navigators will be available to assist with the health insurance marketplace application process, coordinators said.
Care Source is also listed as a sponsor of the event. The annual fair typically is attended by hundreds from the public and attracts dozens of vendors.
The Exchange Club Fairgrounds is located at 810 S. Westover Blvd. More information can be obtained by calling AAPHC at (229) 888-6559.
