Albany Police Department responds to assaults, burglaries late Monday and into early Tuesday
An 18-year-old was shot in the left hand during an aggravated assault, Albany police reports say

ALBANY — The Albany Police Department is investigating several aggravated assault incidents reported Monday evening and into early Tuesday.
Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman for the APD, said an aggravated assault was reported shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday on the 1000 block of North Maple Street. In that incident, Jaiquille Martin, 18, told APD officers he was shot in the left hand by an unknown person while walking down the street.
Banks said another aggravated assault was reported at 9:40 p.m. on Monday on the 600 block of Sands Drive, where three victims said an unknown person, or persons, fired seven rounds into the apartment.
Banks said a third aggravated assault was reported at 11:45 p.m. on Monday on the 1500 block of Malone Drive. A woman reported that a man fired some shots at her residence.
The woman said the suspects were in a physical altercation with her son, and when the suspect was leaving, he fired about five shots at her residence and struck the window on the south side of her residence, Banks said.
A first-degree burglary and aggravated assault was reported at 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday on the 100 block of South Front Street. The victim reported an unknown white male gained access to her room, and while she was sleeping, he climbed on top of her and began kissing her.
When she woke up, she began resisting and he choked her. The unknown person pushed her between the bed and the wall, threw a cover on her and left the room, Banks said.
Banks said the incidents “remain under investigation and are subject to change once additional information is released from detectives.”
