ALBANY — The Albany Police Department Investigations Bureau is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a woman regarding an outstanding warrant for probation violation who is also believed to have some kind of connection to a homicide case from last year.
Cursinna Stringer, 33, is 5-foot-4 and weighs 134 pounds. An APD spokeswoman said investigators want to speak with Stringer about the homicide of Gary Jefferies reported on Aug. 11.
The initial police report on the homicide said Jefferies was killed at around 1 a.m. that morning. He was shot at 614 W. Mercer Ave. by two unknown black males who, police say, used unknown types of handguns.
APD units responded to the scene of the shooting, and when they arrived, officers were escorted to the backyard where the victim was lying unconscious and not breathing. Jefferies was later pronounced dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
A witness told police they were inside the apartment when two unknown suspects knocked on the door. Jefferies went to the door, and a short time later, gunshots were heard. Jefferies was later found lying in the backyard.
The Jefferies case was the 10th homicide in Albany last year. APD detectives, crime scene technicians, gang unit investigators and Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler were among those called to assist with the investigation, initial reports on the incident said.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Stringer or the homicide of Jefferies can call Albany Area CrimeStoppers at (229) 436-TIPS(8477) or an APD investigator at (229) 431-3288.
