ALBANY — Theatre Albany will conduct auditions at 7 p.m. Sunday for “Death By Golf,” a mystery/comedy the theater will perform in late March and early April. The auditions will be conducted at the 514 Pine Ave. theater.
Written by Gregg Kreutz, “Death By golf” involves an escaped convict, an anxious bride, a scheming new husband and a suspicious attorney, who all convene at Grandpa’s house. It doesn’t take long for Grandpa to realize he has to reschedule his golf game, Director Mark Costello says.
A combination of uproarious comedy and terrifying murder mystery, the play revolves around the uncanny resemblance between an escaped convict and recent bridegroom. As the suspense mounts, the newlywed wife slips into increasing hysteria while Grandpa, drawing upon an unsuspected hidden reserve of inner strength, fine-tunes his stroke.
Costello says he is looking to cast one man in his late 20s to early 30s and two women, one late 20s to early 30s and one 30s-40s. Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
Rehearsals for “Death By Golf” are set to begin Feb. 20 with performances scheduled for March 24-26 and 30-31, and April 1-2. For further information, call the theater at (229) 439-7193.
Theatre Albany’s current production, the Tony Award-winning musical “Ain’t Misbehavin’” based on the sounds of Fats Waller, opens its seven-performance run at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17. The show also has performances scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18 and 23-25, with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 and 26.
