ALBANY — Thefts are continuing to keep officers with the Albany Police Department busy.
One of the more recent incidents took place at 4:30 a.m. on Monday at 840 W. Oglethorpe Blvd., the site of the Regent Motel. The victim in that case was Carlos Cody, who had some possessions taken from his room.
“A cell phone and money were taken from the victim by a male he knows as Rodney Jones,” said Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman for APD. “The investigation revealed that the suspect was a guest in the victim’s motel room and snatched the items physically from his possession.”
This incident, which has been labeled as a robbery by sudden snatching, remains under investigation.
The APD was also called in on a computer theft that took place at Lane Bryant at the Albany Mall just before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
In that case, an employee was passing off multiple merchandise items, including clothes, jewelry and shoes, without ringing them up.
“She was not ringing up the items properly,” Banks said. “She had done it several times.”
Banks said that the employee has been suspended and that there had been no arrests or charges filed in connection to the case as of Monday afternoon.
