ALBANY – Billboard’s No. 2 Christian artist of the decade, Jeremy Camp, is coming to Albany to perform on March 30.

The Grammy nominee and four-time winner of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ Songwriter of the Year Award is bringing “The Theater Tour” to the Albany Municipal Auditorium at 200 N. Jackson St.

Camp has released five albums. His most recent, “When you Speak,” was released in 2021. Between 2002 and 2017, he released 11 albums, four of them attaining RIAA gold certification. His music is a mixture of ballads and up-tempo rock songs.

The singer grew up learning about the power of ministry through words and music from his father, who worked as a pastor.

In 2001, Camp lost his first wife to cancer and turned his back on music. However, he said his faith pulled him out of this darkness and pushed him to keep sharing this talent with others.

Camp said this tour is advancing for his new album, “Deeper Waters,” which comes out May 17. The concert will feature his newly released single “These Days” as well as some other unreleased singles and old favorites as well.

“A lot of it is saying, ‘Hey, this is the new album. This is the new season,’ and hopefully it will get people excited about it,” Camp said.

He added that he hopes people find solace with “These Days.”

The song talks about being in the right place at the right time and that God doesn’t make mistakes. Camp sings that everyone is here for a purpose and a reason

“I just felt like encouraging people … in the midst of the chaos right now with all that’s happening in our world,” he said.

This tour will be Camp’s first time performing in the U.S. after about a year and a half. He said he likes performing in smaller communities like Albany because they often don’t get as many entertainment opportunities.

“I’m really excited about this tour because we have a lot of smaller cities that don’t get a lot of shows,” he said. “I’m excited to get back into it because I love sharing my heart, my songs and being with people.”

The concert runs about an hour and 45 minutes. Camp said it shares his journey. The title, “Deeper Water,” signifies his experiences connecting him to his faith in a deeper way.

“It’s a whole night of sharing, the years of me doing this and the stories and things that I’ve experienced,” he said. “Everyone’s going to get different eras of me.”

Camp said this journey is him learning that God is still faithful throughout the hardships.

“It’s me saying … life can be difficult,” he said. “There’s hard things, but God in the midst of it is always there with us. He’s always good.”

The singer said he hopes people leave his show feeling empowered in understanding that God’s with them, and they have a purpose.

Camp will be joined by guest musicians Caleb & John, who, “write their own definition of brotherhood,” according to their site

Camp’s March 30 show begins at 7 p.m. Reserved tickets range from $36 to $76 with VIP tickets at $75. Tickets are available at https://www.ticketmaster.com/jeremy-camp-albany-georgia-03-30-2024/event/22005F5AECCF1627.
