CTAE budget heads to the DCSS board

ALBANY, Ga. — The Dougherty County School Board’s finance committee on Wednesday voted 3-0 to send the system’s CTAE (career, technology and agriculture education) Fiscal Year 2013 budget to the full board for approval.

CTAE Director Patricia Jackson laid out her proposed $360,000 budget, which included $208,893 in Perkins Program improvement funding to operate the program.

Other budgeted items include:

n $50,941 in extended day funding that will allow teachers to accompany students to competitions after hours and other requirements of the Program of Work (POW);

n $40,204 for CTAE teacher apprenticeships;

n $28,123 to pay a portion of the CTAE supervisor’s salary.

All of the funding is to come from state grants.

The DCSS’s CTAE department prepares students for life beyond the classroom by providing them with employability skills, along with the background needed to succeed in post-secondary institutions, school officials say.

The system offers 27 pathways ranging from agriculture to business and computer sciences.
