ALBANY — The candidate pool in three Albany City Commission contests grew by two on Thursday, with one additional candidate qualifying in both Ward II and Ward III.
Adam Inyang joined the Ward II field that includes former commissioner Bobby Coleman and political newcomer Jalen Johnson.
In Ward III, incumbent Commissioner B.J. Fletcher drew another challenger with the entry of Daa’iyah Salaam, a research analyst at Albany Technical College. The third candidate to qualify so far in Ward III is Vilnis “Dip” Gaines.
No additional candidates entered the race on Thursday in Ward V, where incumbent Bob Langstaff and Colette Jenkins, have qualified.
Jenkins is listed on the LinkedIn social media site as founder/executive director of Chosen To Conquer Inc., and general manager of the Nelson Tift Building Convention Center.
The final day for qualifying in the three races is Friday. The election will be held in November.
